Apart from its renowned food in the state of Terengganu, which takes the form of the Keropok Lekor which is typically a fish cracker snack, the state is also a popular place for tourist to visit, mainly due to its off the mainland islands. In the mainland however, one can visit the Terengganu Planetarium. Located at the foot of Bukit Besar which is the highest peak in the capital city at Padang Hiliran, it holds a permanent exhibition here which displays along the science, technology and astronomy disciplines. There is also a high tech projector located at the 30 space theater which displays a simulated stars and image space onto the roof of the dome. The Planetarium also houses the State Science Center Office and the Terengganu Entrepreneurs Development Foundation. Terengganu’s coastal line is also one to be desired. The Waterfront of Kuala Terengganu is a great place to be where there will always be events taking place. Along the line, one can catch the fishmongers selling their produce of seafood daily. From here, one can also take a boat to the islands nearby which is widely available. For those who would like a more relaxing alternative, take a boat ride to Seberang Takir, where one can see the awe-spiring South China Sea along the coastal waters. Over at Kampung Masjid is the Abidin Mosque. Previously known as the White Mosque and at some time known as the Big Mosque, the structure fo the building is made from timber built by the Sultan Zainal Abidin II in the late 1700s, which was then replaced with stone during the ruling years of Sultan Umar. At the mosque one is able to appreciate the Islamic calligraphy works of the Holy Quran Prayer verses and some arabesques nicely and articulately carved onto the entrance door and the grills of the gates. The Wisma Darul Iman is the administrative center of the Terengganu Government. The 18 storey building stands in the middle of the city which houses the official offices of the Chief Minister, the State Secretary, the State Departments and the State Assembly Hall. Out of the city, one can always take a boat ride out to the nearby islands like Pulau Perhentian, Kapas Island and the very popular Redang Island. Other attractions in this state include the Bukit Belatan Waterfall in Jerteh, Kenyir Lake, Sekayu Waterfalls at Sekayu, the Setiu Recreational Park in Bandar Permaisuri and Cenderung Waterfalls at Kemaman |
