Food in Kelantan is famous due to it traditional recipe and the cultural tastes of the people. Tourists and visitors here should try out their traditional food here which still uses the ancient recipes passed down through generations.Image


One of the most sought after food from around here perhaps would be the Ayam Percik, which is grilled chicken cooked with coconut milk sauce. This can be found at almost any food outlets in around the state while the Nasi Dagang uses red glutinous rice with accompanying dishes like curry and pickles. The Nasi Kerabu is typically a rice dish usually served with raw vegetables and the nationally famous sambal. It comes in three distinct colours black, white and yellow.


Other types of food here include the Solok Lada where some filling made from coconut, fish meat and coconut milk is cooked inside a chilly. The Laksam is typically rice powder served with white coconut milk curry usually eaten raw. The Budu is a type of sauce made from fish used as dippings for meat while the Sambal Daging is normally served with rice although sometimes taken in itself. It is meat cut into tiny pieces and cooked until it is dried.


ImageThe Lompat Tikam is usually served during special occasions while a type of cake made from eggs and sugar is the Jala Mas which sometimes being refered to as the Royal Cake found only in Kelantan. Ketupat Sotong is cooked with brown sugar using glutinous rice that are placed into cuttlefish and after cooking is placed into a cup made from banana leaf. The Dodol also can be found here although it is not an original here, it has its own version of the dodol made from local recipes. The Lempok is cooked using sugar and durian meat while the Pulut Manis is a type of dessert served from glutinous rice cooked in brown sugar. There are other variations of the glutinous rice here like the Pulut Panggang and the Pulut Bakar while Buah Tanjong is a type of fruit known as the Royal Kelantan Food. Puteri Mandi is a type of cake or ‘Kuih’ made from rice powder while the Taik Itek is made from coconut milk, sugar and eggs. The Akok Kelantan is famous for its aromatic taste made from eggs and brown sugar.
